How to Ask for What You Want Workshop (Recording Only)

Overview: In this interactive online workshop, learners will explore the transformative power of combining Focusing and the Wheel of Consent to better understand their needs and desires. Through interactive activities, guided exercises, and group discussions, you will explore how to how to:

  1. Foster self-awareness by connecting with your felt sense of "yes" and "no". 

  2. Gain clarity on your desires and promote healthy boundary-setting. 

  3. Overcome barriers to self-expression and empower yourself to ask for what you want.

  4. Develop skills to cope with rejection and receiving a "no," through self-regulation tools.

  5. Understand the importance of aftercare for healing and regaining emotional balance after a challenging experience.

By the end of the workshop, participants will have a deeper understanding of their desires and the tools to confidently ask for what they want, ultimately enhancing their personal growth, self-advocacy, and connection with others. This 2-hour online workshop is designed to be accessible and valuable for students at all levels of experience, providing a supportive environment to learn, practice, and grow in their communication and self-awareness skills. Join us for an enriching and engaging experience that will empower you to communicate your needs and desires with more confidence.

This workshop is. being delivered by Shahd Omar, who is a trauma-sensitive embodiment coach based in Cairo and PUPA Focusing Trainee with Coordinatinator-in-Training Annette Dubreuil.

Objectives:

  1. Introduce learners to how we will use Focusing and grounding in the felt sense 

  2. Guide participants in applying Focusing to improve communication, boundary-setting, and self-advocacy.

  3. Help participants develop confidence in asking for what they want and expressing their needs in relationships, as well as in everyday life.

This live online workshop will be delivered live virtually on Zoom and use breakout rooms for Focusing practice. The workshop will also be recorded and made available later to participants. The recording will also be made available to PUPA Trainees (in the Certification program).
